 STARE'Stare' by John Rogers is an interactive live art piece that sought to examine and redefine the rules of engagement between artist and audience. Sitting opposite the artist, participants maintained unbroken eye contact with the artist for a full 2 minutes. Concerned with the often 'passive' role of the art object and the 'distant' presence of the artist, Rogers here attempted to reverse that balance. The art object was removed from the equation and replaced with a living installation that looked back directly into the eyes of the viewer.
