John Rogers, Who Is John Doe? (video still), 2001
WHO IS JOHN DOE? was a piece I made during the MA. Bashir Chamberlain (pictured) filmed and produced it and helped with the technical side of the editing. There was an hours worth of footage in the end - about twenty people took part, dressing as 'John Doe' and answering questions such as 'how do you feel about the mystery that surrounds you and your work?' and 'is it true that you have slept with David Bowie?'. It was shown as a five screen installation, with the sound turned right up on all of the monitors, making it hard to distinguish one voice from another.
It has never been shown outside of the UCE - I hope to include it in my next solo show.
